Sunday Streets in San Francisco!

  The Ruth's Table Staff and volunteers and some residents of  Bethany House staffed a table at Sunday Streets on Valencia Street. The city closes off the street and everyone can ride bikes and walk and visit all the booths. It was a fun day. We had a "make and take" table and participants made bracelets and decorated postcards using recycled and repurposed materials.

The crowd got quite large throughout the day. Everyone enjoying Valencia Street without cars!

Mail Art Workshop

                                          Postal Art Workshop

                 Join me at Ruth's Table and make mail art and support the U.S. Postal Service! We will make postcards, greeting cards and handmade envelopes using found and repurposed materials. 

A huge selection of my rubber stamps will be out for decorating and my die cutters as well. It should be a fun afternoon of creating items to be mailed. We all love getting mail. Make someones day and send a handmade greeting to them!

I got inspired to do more mail art  by my friend Jennie Hinchcliff  and her co- author Carolee Gilligan Wheeler who wrote  the book Good Mail Day- A Primer for Making Eye-Popping Postal Art by Quarry Books. Check it out!

I came across this little paper mail truck made by my daughter Elana when she was in 

kindergarten. Her class visited the real post office on a field trip. Of course I chaperoned 

the trip so I could get an inside look. Isn't it sweet? It is filled with Valentine messages.

New York!

 My daughter and I are heading to the East Coast for a college tour and some fun. I hope to get inspired and see a lot of great stuff and bring back some creative ideas.

DIY Party Workshop at SCRAP in S.F.

Join me at SCRAP in S.F.  for a DIY party workshop. Get inspired to make your

own party decorations, center pieces, creative wrapping techniques for favors

or party bags, banners and invites. Of course all materials will be repurposed or

recycled to make a green party for all.

Repurposed Book Workshop

Join us this Saturday the 9th of June at Ruth's Table for a 

Repurposed Book workshop from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

We will take books that were being discarded and transform 

them into greeting cards, envelopes, sculptures and more.

Give an old book a new  life!

Here are a few examples of taking a discarded book and transforming it into a new
life---- envelopes, greeting cards, bags and package toppers.

Ruth's Table Retrospective Show 2012

 On June 1, 2012 there will be an opening at Ruth's Table to celebrate the past years events at Ruth's Table. There will be works on display from past shows and workshops. Join us in the celebration if you happen to be in the SF Mission District. 580 Capp Street at 21st.  The opening will be from 6:30-8:30 pm

Ramekkon O'arwister at the de Young Museum

We celebrated friends Leslie and Yuriko's birthday by going to the de Young museum and checking out the Jean Gautier fashion exhibit. 

Another friend Susan told us not to miss checking out the Artist in Residence 

Ramekon O'arwisters show in the Kimball Gallery. It was amazing! We all crocheted some materials onto a huge art piece and some of us added pieces to the object pieces.  I am planning on donating puzzle piece and fabric to his studio for more art pieces. This show is down now sorry to say but I had to post about it.
