Sisterhood of Creativity day

Last Saturday Dorothy Yuki and I drove to Sacramento to meet two of my sisters and six friends for an annual "Sisterhood of Creativity" day. Everyone is a crafter and we all  set out on a day long adventure. Our first stop was RAFT which is a teacher resource house. It is full of supplies and teacher kits and tons of stuff. My absolute favorite room was the surplus paper room where I picked up several reams of paper for bookmaking. I also picked up some supplies for two up coming Valentine workshops at SCRAP and The Sunnyside Conservatory.

This is the paper room that I found all sorts of great stuff for the workshop

After leaving RAFT we headed out to a huge thrift store called Eco Thrift. I found some men's wool sweaters perfect for felting. We will turn these into felted flowers. We all found a bunch of stuff. My friend Kim found a set of pyrex bowls for 75% off and I found a color wheel for my sister and brother in laws  aluminum Christmas tree.

My shopping cart with the color wheel and a stack of old rulers.

Back at my sister Melissa's house we had a show and tell session and then we gave a mini Paper Rose Project class to everyone since they couldn't attend the workshops. We topped it off with gourmet pizza and a birthday cake for Melissa.
We all headed home after a day of friendship, art, laughter ready to do it all over again.

This is Kim's show and tell- candle decorated with vintage dictionary pages and twine.

Paper Rose Party #2

Last Friday on a cold and stormy night almost 50 people braved the storm and came to Ruth's Table to make beautiful paper roses. Tomoko Lipp from 3Rartfukuoka.blogspot.com once again was our teacher leading us all in spreading the words of reduce, reuse and recycle. This time she trained six of us to be teachers to help at the event. Look at the results. It was another workshop. Thank you Tomoko!

This is a group photo of all the paper roses made that night.

Ruth's Table Craft NIght with Tomoko Lipp

Photobucket

We had a huge turnout at Ruth's Table for our second Craft Night with guest artist Tomoko Lipp from 3R Art Paper Rose Project. Almost 50 people turned out to make wonderful paper roses from the colored sections of newspapers. It was a wonderful evening of food and art and all of us joining in to spread the words of Tomoko "Let's Reduce, Reuse and Recycle". Thank you Tomoko for all your hard word and teaching us all how to make a paper rose. You will see by the photos how great all of them were-- everyone of them different and beautiful.
